Supporting Business

Whilst it is always satisfying to run a successful business and turn a profit, The Jetters Edge recognises that supporting charitable organisations that are dedicated to providing for those less fortunate in our community is vital to creating a well-rounded business. Being able to raise awareness of important social issues and local charitable initiatives is at the core of The Jetters Edge philosophy. Here are some of the current organisation and the initiatives that we are proud to be supporting and promote.

Black Dog Institute

Since its foundation in 1985 as the ‘Mood Disorders Unit’ at Prince Henry Hospital, Sydney, the Black Dog Institute has been at the forefront of mental health research. Rapidly evolving to drive the creation of new knowledge and ensure that clinical best practice continues to be improved and refined in line with the latest evidence.

The Jetters Edge is a proud supporter of the Black Dog Institute and regularly runs special charity sales days, where we donate a percentage of sales to Black Dog. Most recently we managed to raise over $2,000 from one day of sales to help them continue their essential work.

Today, the Black Dog Institute’s focus has expanded to address new challenges and opportunities in mental health – suicide prevention, digital innovation, lived experience, youth, and workplace mental health. Their work in mood disorders continues by investigating new and better ways to treat and prevent conditions like anxiety and depression through digital tools and novel treatments.

Conflict Mineral Policy

Conflict minerals are mined in conditions where armed conflict and human rights abuses occur. The term is often used to refer to four minerals – tungsten, tantalum, tin, and gold (also known as 3TG) – that are mined in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Responsible sourcing of minerals is an important part of our supplier sustainability commitment. We implement measures in our chain to ensure that our products are not directly or indirectly funding atrocities in the DRC. Even though Mustang Nozzles and The Jetters Edge do not directly source minerals from the DRC, the mines are typically seven or more tiers removed from our direct suppliers.

Mustang Nozzles and The Jetters Edge are committed to not purchasing raw materials, subassemblies, or supplies which we know contain conflict minerals. We do not directly source minerals from mines in the DRC or elsewhere.

MISSION AVIATION FELLOWSHIP (maf)

MAF is a Christian organisation that provides aviation services for people living in remote areas around the world.

For over 75 years, MAF has been serving isolated people by using aircraft to bring in the essentials of life as well as medical care, emergency food, and Christian hope. Our purpose is to deliver practical and spiritual care to people in places of deepest human need. Every six minutes, a MAF plane takes off or lands somewhere in the world. These flights enable crucial work by many aid and development agencies, missions, local churches and other national groups.

MAF is serving the Church and communities in remote areas where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline.

Visit the Mission Aviation Fellowship website for more information on their fantastic work!

Katova High School ProjecT

The Katova High School building mission project is a S.W.I.M (Supporting Work In Ministry) initiative. Started in 2019, SWIM is endeavouring to build a new high school for the students of Samasodu.

Planning for the Wamberal CRC S.W.I.M mission project for 2024 is well underway, and they are now accepting ‘expressions of interest’ from participants interested in joining the project. The mission project will be undertaken in the village of Samasodu, which is on the island of Santa Isabel in the Solomon Islands.

You can find more information on submitting an expression of interest via the Katova High School Facebook Page or emailing your details to samasodumissionprojects@gmail.com

OzHarvest

OzHarvest was founded in 2004 by Ronni Kahn AO, after noticing the huge volume of food going to waste from her events business. Ronni did not set out to start a charity, rather just fix an obvious problem with a simple solution. Starting with one van in Sydney, she began rescuing food and delivering it to local charities.

MAF is serving the Church and communities in remote areas where flying is not a luxury, but a lifeline.

From humble beginnings, OzHarvest has become a leading food rescue organisation on a mission to ‘Nourish our Country’ by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. Our yellow vans are out and about in communities every day, collecting quality surplus food from a network of donors, including supermarkets, cafes, delis, restaurants, corporate kitchens, airlines, hotels and other food businesses.

The Jetters Edge are proud to saupport such a wonderful initiative and we encourage everyone to visit the OzHarvest Website today and check out the many fundraising initiatives that you can lend your support to.

Mr Drains Giving Back Fund

Our sister company, Mr Drains Plumbing Services, runs the ‘Mr Drains Giving Back Fund’, a non-profit, non-government fund administered by an independent board, we can react quickly to needs within our community.

Established in 2011, the Mr Drains Giving Back Fund believes there is an obligation to support those who have fallen on hard times in our community.

An important feature of the Mr Drains Giving Back Fund is that our plumbing business provides all administrative support at no charge. Our trustees volunteer their time. All this means that donations go directly towards the support of those who need our help wherever they are.

All of these opportunities to help others would not have been possible without your assistance.
